Reconciles

Gresham alternatives and Gresham competitors for reconciliation

Reconciles is a Gresham alternative for US finance and payments teams whose reconciliation work is bank statements, processor payouts and invoice payments rather than trades, positions and regulatory data controls. Gresham sells its Clareti platform to banks, asset managers and insurers through sales-led deals and publishes no price list. Reconciles publishes plans from $888 a year, charges no implementation fee and shows matched pairs from your own files before you create an account.

Where Gresham fits and where it does not

Gresham Technologies is a London-based reconciliation and data integrity vendor. Its flagship Clareti platform covers data governance, regulatory compliance and transaction control, and Clareti Control automates, validates and reconciles transaction data, workflows and reporting for large financial institutions. In 2024 the company was taken private by STG, which planned to combine it with its portfolio company Alveo, and the platform now sits in a larger capital markets data group.

That is a strong fit for a bank or asset manager reconciling millions of trades, cash movements and positions across custodians. It is a lot of platform when your month looks different: a Stripe payout, a lockbox deposit, a card batch and 800 open invoices that need to tie to a ledger by the 5th. Matching those is the job Reconciles was built for, and it is the only job it does.

Which Gresham reconciliations Reconciles covers

Gresham style use caseCovered by ReconcilesWhat to use instead
Bank statement to ledger Yes, statement CSV, XLSX, OFX, MT940 or PDF against any ledger export Not needed
Processor payouts to bank deposits Yes, one to one, one to many and many to one Not needed
Payments to open invoices Yes, with short pays and unapplied cash sent to an exceptions queue Not needed
Journal entries for QuickBooks, Xero and NetSuite Yes, on Growth and Scale Not needed
Trade, position and securities reconciliation No Gresham, Duco, SmartStream or Xceptor
Regulatory data controls and reporting No Gresham or another platform with rulebooks

If most of your volume sits in the first four rows, the choice is mostly about price and setup time. If trades and regulatory controls are the problem, a capital markets platform is the right category and Reconciles is not.

Other Gresham competitors buyers compare

Directory sites such as Technology Counter list BlackLine, Adra, AutoRek, ReconArt, Cashbook and SkyStem as Gresham alternatives, and the lists mix corporate close tools with capital markets vendors. The shortlist splits by the data you reconcile.

Pick the group by your data. Trades and positions belong with the capital markets vendors. Bank statements, payouts, invoices and ledger exports belong with corporate tools.

What changes when reconciliation moves to Reconciles

One deposit, many invoices

The engine reads the bank or payout line and the open invoice file and tries one to one, one to many and many to one combinations on amounts, references and payer names. Six invoices paid by one ACH come back as one group with the total shown.

A reason on every pair

Every match shows why it was made, such as reference found in the memo, amount and date within two days, or three invoices summing to one deposit. Reviewers approve pairs instead of re-checking them.

Exceptions with owners

Unmatched and partly matched items go to a queue with the amount, an owner and comments, so month end is a short list instead of a hunt through tabs.

Journal entries for the ledger

Growth exports journal entries for QuickBooks and Xero and Scale adds NetSuite, so fees and adjustments land in the ledger without retyping. The bank reconciliation software page shows the full flow.

How to test a Gresham alternative before your demo

1. Export one month of bank activity from your main operating account as CSV or XLSX, plus any Stripe, PayPal or processor payout files.

2. Export the matching ledger or open invoice list from your accounting system.

3. Upload both and read the match rate, the exceptions queue and the reason on each pair.

4. Count what is left. If the leftovers are trades and regulatory breaks, you need a capital markets platform. If they are unmatched deposits and fees, a matching tool covers it.

When Gresham is the better fit

  • You reconcile securities, positions, trades or client money across custodians and counterparties.
  • Regulators expect documented controls and breaks workflows on transaction data.
  • Your volume is millions of records a day from many feeds and formats.
  • You have an operations team and budget for a managed implementation.

When Reconciles is the better fit

  • Your work is bank lines, payouts and invoice payments tied to a ledger every month.
  • You match thousands or tens of thousands of lines a month, not millions.
  • You want a published price, a monthly option and no rollout project.
  • Your ledger is QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite, or any system that exports a file.
