Reconciles

Numeric alternatives and competitors for teams that need matching first

Reconciles is a Numeric alternative for finance teams whose close slips because bank lines, payouts and invoices will not match. Numeric is a close and finance data platform sold through a demo with a custom quote, and buyer data on Vendr puts the median contract near $15,000 a year. Reconciles publishes its prices from $888 a year, needs no onboarding project and shows matched pairs from your own files within minutes.

Your files are processed in your browser and never stored. No card needed.

Where Numeric fits and where it does not

Numeric started as close management software for accounting teams and has grown into a wider finance data platform. Its site lists Close Management (close checklists, account reconciliation, flux analysis and transaction monitors), Cash Management (cash matching and journal entry automation), Billing and Revenue, and a full ERP Replacement. NetSuite is the integration it names most prominently, and its pricing page says plans are built from the number of transactions, the number of seats and business context.

That breadth suits a controller who wants one platform to run the close, explain variances and eventually replace parts of the ERP. It is a lot of software to buy when the actual problem is narrower. A Shopify payout that lands net of fees, a customer who pays four invoices with one ACH, a bank feed that never ties to QuickBooks. Those are matching problems, and they are the only problems Reconciles is built to solve.

We only state facts about Numeric that Numeric or a named procurement source publishes. Ask Numeric for current scope and terms, and run this month's files through Reconciles before either call.

Other Numeric competitors on a typical shortlist

Buyers who compare Numeric competitors usually end up with the same five or six names. They solve different versions of the problem, so start from the job, not the logo.

  • FloQast is a close management platform with three quoted packages and no per user fees. Our FloQast alternative page compares it with Reconciles, and FloQast pricing summarizes what buyers report paying.
  • BlackLine is an enterprise close and reconciliation suite for large, multi-entity organizations, quoted after a demo. See the BlackLine alternative page and BlackLine pricing.
  • Trintech sells Adra for the mid-market and Cadency for large global companies, both covering the close and reconciliations.
  • Ledge focuses on automating reconciliations and the close for high volume finance teams.
  • Reconciles focuses only on matching transactions and clearing exceptions, with published self-serve plans.

If the shortlist exists because reconciliations are late, test the matching first. A close platform that still leaves 600 unmatched card settlement lines on day four has not fixed the close.

What changes when matching moves to Reconciles

Processor payouts tied to deposits

Stripe, PayPal, Shopify and Amazon pay out net of fees, refunds and chargebacks. Reconciles splits each payout into its parts and ties it to the bank deposit, see payment reconciliation software.

One payment against many invoices

One ACH for several invoices, short payments and early payment discounts are matched as one to many or many to one groups with tolerances on amount and date, as the invoice reconciliation software page shows.

A reason on every suggested match

Each pair carries a match reason and a confidence score, so the reviewer approves the work instead of redoing it.

Exceptions in one sorted queue

Lines that do not match land in a queue split into unmatched, partial, duplicate, amount difference and date difference, with assignment and comments on Growth and approvals with an audit log on Scale.

How to test a Numeric alternative this afternoon

1. Export last month's bank statement and the ledger, payout or invoice file it should match.

2. Drop both files into the matcher on the home page and review the matched pairs.

3. Save the rules that worked, then connect your bank, processors and QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite.

4. Clear the exceptions queue and export the reconciliation report or journal entries.

When Numeric is the better fit

We would rather you buy the right tool. Numeric is likely the stronger choice if:

  • You want close checklists, reviewer sign-offs and flux analysis with written explanations in one place.
  • Your team runs on NetSuite and wants the close software to sit directly on the trial balance.
  • Billing, revenue recognition or a move off your current ERP are on the same roadmap.
  • You already plan a five figure budget and an onboarding project for close software.

When Reconciles is the better fit

  • Your close slips because bank, payout and invoice matching takes days.
  • You run QuickBooks or Xero and want a price you can approve today rather than a custom quote.
  • You sell through Stripe, Shopify, PayPal or Amazon and fight fee and refund differences every month.
  • You are an accounting firm reconciling many clients with one entity per client, see reconciliation software for accountants.
  • You want to see matches on your own data before you talk to anyone.

Published prices instead of a custom quote

Starter costs $74 per month billed yearly or $149 monthly, with 3 accounts and 3,000 matched transactions a month. Growth costs $199 per month billed yearly or $399 monthly, with 15 accounts, 20,000 transactions and 5 entities. Scale costs $499 per month billed yearly or $999 monthly, with 60 accounts, 100,000 transactions, 25 entities, SSO and an audit log. Growth billed yearly comes to $2,388, about a sixth of the median Numeric contract on Vendr. Our breakdown of Numeric pricing explains what drives the quote, and every limit is listed on the pricing page.
